Among the highest ranking angels, and superior to Guardian Angels, archangels are the most well-known angels. Their symbolic angel meaning infers strength, protection and guardianship. These angels are represented as indomitable, warrior spirits and they are also well-known as oracles.
Archangels tend to be the guardian angels for nations, and their numbers run into the hundreds rather than billions. Archangels are very persistent and loquacious in communicating their thoughts to humankind, and typically their messages are very profound. Archangels play a unique role as God's messenger to the people at critical times in history and salvation (Tb 12:6, 15; Jn 5:4; Rv 12:7-9) as in The Annunciation and Apocalypse.
