Arrows symbolize mortality and martyrdom.
It is also associated with the rays of the sun, and with hunting. As the weapon of Apollo, it signifies the light of supreme power. It is often paired with the heart, and when it is pierced through it is thought to act as a symbol of conjunction. It also appears in many other combinations: as an arrow with a cross (affliction), or an arrow with fire (Christ).
