THISTLE

The thistle usually signifies early sorrow. The thorns call to mind Christ’s Crown of Thorns, or may represent significant adversity or problems in life.

The thistle is also an ancient Celtic symbol of nobility of character as well as nobility of birth.

As the national emblem of Scotland, it may also refer to the Scottish origin of the person buried.
